About me

4th generation Seattleite now living in the Sunset Hill neighborhood (north Ballard). My grandmother Inez Sauer (Ely/Plummer) worked at Boeing during WWII and helped organize the Boeing Machinists Union. For her efforts, union busters overturned her car and threatened the family. Her interview of that time appears in the book and TV program "The Home Front" by Studs Terkel.

Worked for many years as an Embedded Computer Systems Designer. Soldered together my first non-S100 bus computer in 1976. Never thought MSFT would do very well because their Z80 Assembler I purchased in 1978 was awful....doh!

When not sailing, playing tennis, co-ed 6-2 volleyball or downhill skiing I read academic political science books, campaign strategy texts and Linux journal articles for FUN!!

What David Brooks (NY Times) and I have in common; we both greatly admire the work of political scientist Mancur Olson, author of "The Logic of Collective Action - Public Goods and the theory of Groups".
