Next Meeting – Marijuana Panel!
With the passage of Initiative 502, Washington State made history by legalizing marijuana for both medical and recreational uses. Since that time, we’ve wrestled with legislation to align the two uses into one system, and to create a taxation and regulation system for an industry that remains illegal on the Federal level.
Join the 36th’s own State Senator Jeanne Kohl-Welles, Director of the ACLU’s Campaign to End Mass Incarceration and chief author of Initiative 502, Director of Cannabis Standards and Ethics and North West Patient Services John Davis, and City Attorney Pete Holmes for a panel discussion to learn what the new system is going to mean in our local communities, how the State will be collecting and distributing revenue from the marijuana industry, and what work is yet to be done to ensure the fair and safe trade of marijuana products in our State.
