To hold the Trump administration accountable, Democrats must win 23 seats in the US House of representatives this year. One of the best opportunities to flip a seat from red to blue is only a few miles away: Washington State’s 8th Congressional District, where Democrat Kim Schrier is challenging perennial Republican candidate Dino Rossi.
National analysts consider the district is a true “toss-up,” and as of Sep. 6th Nate Silver’s fivethirtyeight.com projects it as literally the closest race in the country, with a exactly 50% for each candidate.
Doorbelling Carpools!
Join the 36th District Democrats to help win this seat! For every Democrat we remind to vote, we also provide a vote to Democrats Bill Ramos and Lisa Callan, who are running to flip State House seats in the 5th legislative district.
Studies show talking to voters one-on-one at their doorstep is the most effective way to win votes. Volunteers from the 36th will be carpooling over to the 8th to knock on doors.
Here is the schedule:
Sat, Oct 6th
Sun, Oct. 21st, with Representative Gael Tarleton
Sat, Nov. 3rd, with Representative Noel Frame
12:00 PM Meet at Ballard High School parking lot (NW 67th St., just east of 15th Ave NW), sort into cars of 3-4 people each to carpool to Redmond.
1:00 PM Meet the campaign in the 8th. Receive training, maps, walk lists, and materials.
1:30 – 3:30 PM The same cars of 3-4 people will travel to residential areas to knock on doors.
4:00 PM Return to the campaign. Return walk lists and materials.
5:00 PM Return to Ballard HS
For our doorbelling to be successful, we need some volunteers for the following additional tasks:
Driver: We need doorbellers who are Willing to drive their own vehicle with up to 3 additional passengers throughout the day, from Ballard HS to Campaign HQ to the doorbelling location and back. Drivers may ask their passengers to chip in for transportation costs as they feel is appropriate.
Navigator: We need volunteers who have a smart phone with mapping software and feel comfortable navigating unfamiliar streets to find residential addresses. RSVP Below!
