With so much attention on Federal and Statewide races this year, it can be easy to forget that sometimes the most impactful campaigns we can support are the ones for the State Legislature. This year in Washington, we have an incredible opportunity to flip several seats in the State Senate from Republican control.
These four districts are all true swing districts that are all currently polling within the margin of error. We also are lucky to have four amazing candidates to support that are connected to their local communities, care about making a difference, and are running for office for the right reasons.
We are excited to invite you to an exciting event in support of four extraordinary State Senate candidates. Here is a brief bit about who they are and why they are running.
Janet St. Clair is an Island County Commissioner running against Republican incumbent Ron Muzzall in the 10th District. The 10th has elected two Democrats to the House in recent years, making it a prime district to flip. Janet is running to help the cost of living for working families and to protect the beautiful place we live from big polluters. Maria Beltran is running in the Central Washington based 14th District, a newly drawn competitive district that is majority Latino. Maria is the daughter of immigrants and farm workers who is running to represent her community and give them a voice in Olympia. She would be the first Democrat to be elected in Central Washington in 30 years. You can learn more here: Maria Beltran – For State Senate (votemariabeltran.com)
Marla Keethler is the Mayor of White Salmon running against Republican Rep. Paul Harris in the open seat 17th District. Marla is running to challenge the status quo in Southwest Washington and get things done for her community.
