How do I become a member of the 36th?
Membership of the 36th District Democrats is open to anyone registered to vote within the 36th Legislative District. Becoming a member is easy! You can become a member in one of two ways:
1. Become a Precinct Committee Officer for an open precinct in the 36th (either the one you reside in, or if that’s filled already, a nearby one).
2. Pay membership dues for yourself or your household. Our annual membership dues are $25 for an individual and $36 for a household of two. We also have a “Living Lightly” membership option of $5 for those who are unable to afford the regular membership rate at this time. Click here to donate to become a member or renew your membership!
What are the benefits of membership in the 36th?
Membership comes with voting privileges. You will be able to vote on endorsements, motions, resolutions, community service events we do as a district, our leadership and other activities of the 36th. (Certain decisions are restricted to Elected and Appointed PCOs, such as bylaws changes and election of certain officers.)
NOTE: If you are a brand new member of the 36th, there is a 25-day waiting period before you attain voting rights. (This waiting period is waived for those who were members during the previous calendar year.)
If I don’t pay membership dues, can I still participate in the 36th?
Absolutely. Our meetings are open to the public and you are welcome to attend any of our events outside our membership meeting. You are still invited to participate in countless other ways, including our volunteer efforts to get out the vote (GOTV). We have several individuals from outside the 36th district who regularly attend our meetings and events.
