After interviewing candidates for six evenings and a full Saturday, the 36th Executive Board met May 11th and 20th and made the following recommendations for the 2017 Primary Election:
King County Prop. 1 (Arts Levy) | Approve |
King County Executive | [No Recommendation] |
King County Sheriff | John Urquhart |
Court of Appeals – Div. I – Pos. 2 | Michael Spearman |
Court of Appeals – Div. I – Pos. 5 | David Mann |
Port of Seattle – Pos. 1 | Ryan Calkins |
Port of Seattle – Pos. 3 | Ahmed Abdi |
Port of Seattle – Pos. 4 | [No recommendation] |
Seattle Mayor | No Endorsement** |
Seattle City Attorney | Pete Holmes |
Seattle City Council – Pos. 8 | Teresa Mosqueda |
Seattle City Council – Pos. 9 | Lorena González |
School Board – Dist. IV | Eden Mack |
School Board – Dist. V | Andre Helmstetter |
** Please note that for the Mayor’s race, the Executive Board is affirmatively recommending a No Endorsement motion. This is not because the E-board dislikes all the candidates. Instead, the Executive Board feels it is too early to endorse in the Mayor’s race and the 36th should wait until after the Primary to weigh in. If the No Endorsement motion passes, it will have the same effect as if several endorsement motions were made but all failed. If no one is endorsed in the Primary, the organization will consider endorsements in the General from scratch.
