August Membership Meeting

Event Details

We are hosting a panel on refugees, featuring,

  • Nicky Smith, Executive Director of the Seattle office of International Rescue Committee
  • Amhed Abdi, our endorsed candidate for Port of Seattle Commissioner, position 3, and a refugee from Somalia
  • Veena Prasad, founder and Executive Director of Project Feast
  • And Sarah Peterson, State Refugee Coordinator at the Washington State Department of Social and Health Services.

The 36th District Democrats will also consider four resolutions from the members:

  • A resolution thanking Senator Reuven Carlyle and Representative Noel Frame for their votes on the state budget – full text of the resolution here
  • A resolution to require that superdelegates be bound on a first ballot to cast their votes in the same proportion as the popular vote in their home state primary election or nominating caucus – full text of the resolution here
  • A resolution supporting the extension of Tent City 5’s stay in Interbay – full text of the resolution here
